      Research on the mental health of Latinos has been sparse, and more effort is needed to further clarify mental health issues in Hispanic populations. One of the most important psychiatric epidemiologic surveys was the Epidemiologic Catchment Area (ECA) study, in which researchers arrived at various psychiatric diagnoses by using DSM-III. Hispanic Heritage Month (September October 15) is a time to pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society.
